Admiral’s is one of the largest car insurance providers in the UK. It is still based in South Wales, and is one of the largest employers in the region, with over 5,000 members of staff. As such a large and prestigious company Admiral Insurance’s recent relocation to Newport City centre required the extensive regeneration of 80,000sqft of office space. The regeneration of an existing building - which included the construction of an architecturally important atrium - required the integration of a number of complex and important natural ventilation and life safety mechanical smoke ventilation systems, and following a stringent selection process Adexsi were chosen to design, supply and install these services.
Working with the relevant fire safety and building management teams, Adexsi designed and installed a number of mechanical and natural ventilation systems which included 10 acoustic Certilam louvered smoke ventilators designed for smoke and natural ventilation applications, tested to EN12101-2 for Smoke Ventilation. The resultant, unique combination of natural and smoke ventilation systems ensures the continued safety of the buildings occupants, reduced running costs and the building’s conformity to environmental legislation.
