Amazon commits to Principal Place

Adexsi’s Veripower fire safety systems have been specified for Amazon’s new offices at Principal Place. The substantial office development north of the City of London financial district is scheduled to be ready for the online retail giant’s team to move in, sometime in 2017. Around 5,000 staff are likely to ultimately occupy the 15 storey building.
Principal Place sits just north of the Broadgate office district, close to the City but also just south of the trendy Shoreditch area, which is full of creative and tech start-up businesses. A mixed use redevelopment by Brookfield and designed by renowned architects Foster + Partners, it includes a 15 floor, 600,000 sq ft office tower with roof terraces and commanding views across the capital. There will also be a new public piazza with events space, and more than 20,000 sq ft of retail and restaurant space. Next door will be Principal Tower, a 50 storey residential block containing 298 apartments, being built by W1 Developments.
Working in partnership with main contractor Brookfield Multiplex, and services specialist Michael J Lonsdale, Adexsi is delivering a variety of key building safety components. A Veripower mechanical extract system designed into the building atrium provides an essential smoke vent function. In the building’s loading bay and car park, a Veripark ventilation system is being installed. And bringing all the elements together is a Vericom building control system.
